Handmade Arts & Crafts fair at Birmingham Custard Factory 22nd August
The day started off slightly warped as fellow Dynamics Community Arts project Rhubarb Radio held a Christmas party during their 8am-10am show the big paws. Presenters Jon Bounds & Julia Gilbert decorated the radio station in style, were singing xmas carols, handed out xmas gifts and had lots of people drop by the station dressed in Santa hats!
Nevertheless, we had a sunny day! (sorry, no white xmas!)
We set up our stalls outside to be more connected to passing visitors and to enjoy the lovely weather. Although it looked like the whole of Birmingham chose to go on holiday elsewhere this weekend, we had some good visitors come pass.... some buying visitors!:) So there you go, the custard factory does not have to be packed with people in order to have a great sales day!
Lisa from Handmade by Tigerlily added a new selection of handmade cards, made out of recycled paper & card stock. She also had a new addition of build a flower templates, which allows buyers to replicate some of her amazing designs via templates & instructions. Her felt bags and tea cozies also got a lot of attention. See her work on www.handmadebytigerlily.blogspot.com & www.craftbugs.blogspot.com
Sarah from Magpie Jewels sold out of just about everything at a craft fair the week before, so created lots of new items for our Handmade arts market this weekend. She had a whole new range of children's hair bobbles, bracelets and necklaces and was working away all day making new necklaces and earrings from newly arrived beads through the post that morning and new buys from our neighbour Kate at the Birmingham Bead Shop. See Sarah's work on www.magpiejewels.webs.com
Nelly had another lovely table display with her textile items such as quilts, tea cozy, patchwork cushions, felted flowers, memo boards etc. She sold one of her lovely children's dresses to an adorable little girl and both of her cat-shaped bags went even before 11am!
Said Label had a few new additions to her bag range in the shape of smaller handbags, with different coloured lining inside and tiny little totes with adorable applique patterns.
Next weekend's August Bank Holiday craft fair will be our last weekly summer Handmade arts market. We have some lovely people lined up for you already... new post coming up soon!!
There are still spaces left, so come and join us if you fancy some creative spirit & inspiration :)
